I had always dreamed of a big princess wedding, with a big ball gown, my prince, and the happiest place on earth! And in August 2016, I got that! I was so excited after Jesse asked me to be his princess and I instantly began to plan all the Disney details to make our wedding and honeymoon at Disney World magical!
We are from Ohio so a wedding ceremony and reception at Disney World were out of the question if I wanted all of my family and friends to attend. We were married in a gorgeous Catholic church ceremony and had a fantastic Disney themed reception! It was certainly my day as a true princess as I married the love of my life!
Aside from all of the Disney details, from the invitations, the favors, the ice sculpture, and even the enchanted rose; I still wanted to be in Disney World with my prince! And he knew long before he proposed to me that our honeymoon destination would be Disney World.
Many people questioned us on why we would choose Disney as our honeymoon spot, and we did consider Aulani (only because it still included Disney), but I just knew that I would not be 100% satisfied if I did not go to Disney World for my honeymoon as I had been planning for the past 15 years when my sister took her honeymoon there as well.
Both, me and Jesse, love animals and wanted to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (check out this AMAZING resort here). At that point I was not working as an independent travel consultant so we booked out trip though the DVC Rental Store (read about how here). We stayed in a savanna view deluxe studio at Kidani Village and I swear it was like heaven! The first thing we did every morning when we got up and every evening when we got back from the parks was go right outside on our balcony and take in the wildlife. It was so calming!
When we arrived to Kidani Villge we had already done the online check in and had our room number texted to us, but we still went to the front desk to talk with the cast members and get some extra information on the resort (we do this on every trip). Since we were celebrating our honeymoon, the cast member gave us our “Happily Ever After” pins! (The pins are extremely important in adding that extra bit of magic to your trip)!
We visited all four parks the week we were there; Magic Kingdom 3 days and Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios only 1 day. Each day we went to the parks, I wore some sort of wedding or bride shirt and my pin! I can’t tell you how many times we heard congratulations which constantly brought a smile to our faces! Almost every cast member we saw and even some Disney guests made us feel so special.
We also had the memory maker so we stopped at almost every photopass spot and each photographer made sure to mention our honeymoon and then created fun photos for us!
The congratulations were not the only attention we received from Disney cast members while on our honeymoon either! One day while we were walking though Adventureland in Magic Kingdom, we walked past a group of cast members chatting. They said congratulations to us and called us over to them, when we walked up to them they asked if we had been able to ride all of the rides we had wanted to that day. We said pretty much and that we were having a great time! They asked which ride we still wanted to ride that we had not been on yet that day and we said the Haunted Mansion, the cast member pulled out a special fastpass, filled it out for the Haunted Mansion and we were on our way to the fastpass line! Another time while at Animal Kingdom we were waiting in line for the Jungle Book: Alive with Magic show when a cast member came up to us and picked us to sit in the special seating section!
It was the little things like this that made our honeymoon that much more special!
While we were there, we used the Disney dining plan so we ate A LOT! When we arrived to our reservation at the Crystal Palace there was Mickey Mouse confetti on our table and when we received our desserts at the Coral Reef, there were little chocolate pieces on the plate that said “I am Celebrating!”.
That extra magic was added to our Disneymoon due to those little touches that the cast members at Disney did for us that really show how willing they are to go out of their way to make their guests happy!
We certainly did not want this trip to end and unfortunately, like any vacation, they go much to fast! But all in all we had an amazing time and made many memories!
I would recommend to any Disney lover planning their honeymoon to consider Disney World!
